Read about Fr. Poczatek's journey to the priesthood.

What did you do prior to entering seminary?

I was a high school student, lifeguard, altar server at my parish, and a brother to nine siblings.

What influenced your decision to apply for seminary entrance?

I would say it was my relationship with Jesus that was fostered and nurtured by my parents. I've also been inspired by many priests and seminarians in the diocese.

Why do you want to be a priest?

To lay down my life for Jesus Christ and his bride, the Church!

What are your favorite pastimes?

I enjoy anything to do with the outdoors, especially sports. I particularly enjoy cross country, football, chess, and laughing with family and friends.

What is your favorite quote?

I have two: “I am the way, the truth, and the life...” John 14:6 “No greater love has any man than this: that a man lay down one's life for one's friends.” John 15:13

Who is your favorite Saint and why?

St. John Vianney for his humility and fatherly example as a priest.

What advice would you give to a young man thinking about the seminary?

I would quote St. Padre Pio: “Pray, hope, and don't worry.” Put yourself in God's hands, and your vocation will peacefully flow through Him.
