FAIRFAX, Va. - More than 8,000 teenagers will pack the Eagle Bank Arena on the campus of George Mason University in Fairfax, Va. Friday, January 27 for the 12th annual Life is VERY Good Morning Rally. The Catholic Diocese of Arlington's Office of Youth Ministry and Respect for Life Office sponsor the event, which attracts teens from across the country to reflect upon the true meaning behind the March for Life.
The event is sold out.
Kevin Bohli, Director of the Office of Youth Ministry says this rally is about having a true respect for mankind. "It is one thing to join in on the excitement of marching in Washington, D.C. to take a stand against abortion, but do [these teens] show respect for life in the way that they treat their fellow students, their family or their moral decision?" Bohli says.
Elise Welsh, a 16 year-old Junior at Bishop O'Connell High School, says the event changed the way to she views abortion. "I think the fact that it's a human - no matter if it's two weeks, or five months - that is what resonates to me the most." Welsh says she can debate the issue more comfortably. "I have friends who are pro-choice and I feel more comfortable defending my pro-life position," Welsh said.
