Why Choose Catholic Schools?

The Diocese of Arlington believes that parents are their child's primary educators. As such, parents have many options in selecting an educational institution for their child. Many schools offer classes in English, math, science, and history. Catholics schools not only provide superior curriculum in these areas, but they do so by integrating faith into every subject. That is the Catholic school difference.

Our goal through our Catholic schools is to provide your child with on-going formation in their faith, to develop each students' God-given gifts, and to prepare them for success in higher education and the global marketplace. We do this through a challenging curriculum, the support of our parents, and in a nurturing environment.

Catholic Schools of the Diocese of Arlington welcome students of all backgrounds and faiths to experience the comprehensive education of mind, heart, and spirit. Consider your student’s academic career a success story waiting to be written. Consider the possibilities and potential to be realized. Discover excellence by design. Discover Catholic schools.

Holy Cross Academy

The teachers and administration have far exceeded my (high) expectations during the past three years that my child has attended K thru 2nd there. Each year I am amazed with the creativity and passion of the teacher and each year I worry that the upcoming year could never be as wonderful. AND each year we are again met with a heartfelt teacher and a challenging but exciting and engaging curriculum. It is difficult to send your child away for 7+ hours each day and trust that they will be taught, guided and loved the same as if they were in your own care. Here at Holy Cross, it is not difficult to drop my child off there every morning. The teachers, faculty, and school community provide an environment that lives their faith, supports and encourages one another, and where my child is met with both academic challenges and success.

Do I or my child have to be Catholic in order to attend a Catholic school?

Catholic Schools warmly welcome students regardless of parish or religious faith. Our schools are communities rich with religious backgrounds and practices. Students study the Scriptures and the Tradition of the Catholic faith, participate in Catholic liturgies and, if Catholic, are prepared to receive the Sacraments. Non‐Catholic students are expected to participate in liturgies, religious functions, and religion classes that are part of the academic curriculum. While non‐Catholic students are expected to be knowledgeable about Catholic teachings and practices, they are not expected to give their assent to the Faith.

Are the Catholic schools of the Diocese of Arlington accredited?

The Virginia Catholic Education Association accredits each school and every teacher meets the VCEA or Commonwealth of Virginia certification requirements.
