Heartsongs: Tâm Tình Ca

Heartsongs: Tâm Tình Ca (HSTTC) is the musical ministry of Anh Sang Tin Mung (“The Light of Good News”) radio ministry. HSTTC celebrated its inaugural concert in April 2012 at the Ernst Cultural Center, Northern Virginia Community College. HSTTC 2012 was the first event of its kind in the Northern Virginia Vietnamese-American community: a musical concert of both sacred and secular songs, combined with elements of theater, a live band, and a predominantly Vietnamese Catholic cast. While the theme of the concert was of God’s love for us, it was also a calling to the audience to take their belief in God and make it relevant to their lives, as conveyed in many of the songs from Rev. Fr. Thanh Tam, the father of the “Nhac Vao Doi” musical movement much akin to the American Folk Mass movement of the late 1960’s/early 1970’s. Appropriately, translated, “vao doi” means to “enter life.” Heartsongs: Tâm Tình Ca performers donate their time and talents to the ministry.
