John Mitchell

John Mitchell has a heart for evangelization and for helping Catholics experience a deeper, more personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Since retiring in 2013 from Fairfax County Public Schools, where he taught math and computer science, he has worked in a variety of volunteer capacities. John directs the Contemporary Choir at his parish, St. Philip’s in Falls Church, and has implemented the parish renewal program ChristLife there. In the Diocese of Arlington, he has worked closely with the Bishop's Delegate for Evangelization and Media and was involved in organizing the 2014 evangelization conference “Risk Jesus.” He participated in the Divine Renovation Conference with Fr. James Mallon in Halifax, Canada, in June 2016. John and his wife, Patty, are long-time members of the northern Virginia branch of People of Praise, an ecumenical Christian community. They have four adult children and seven grandchildren.
