Hispanic Young Adult Coordinator (Bi-lingual)

Position Summary

The Catholic Diocese of Arlington is seeking a full-time Coordinator of Hispanic Young Adults. The Coordinator will primarily be responsible for all aspects of planning diocesan-wide Hispanic young adult programs, as well as planning spiritual, social and educational opportunities for parish coordinators of young adult ministry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Acts as a resource to all parishes across the Diocese, encouraging them to incorporate Hispanic culture and spirituality into existing events and programs.

  • Acts as an advocate for new or expanded Hispanic young adult activities in parishes with a Hispanic presence ― e.g., counseling and outreach programs for at-risk young adults.

  • Creates Diocesan-level Hispanic activities that build trust and relationships between the Diocese and Hispanic parents within the community.

  • Assists the staff of the Diocese gain a greater appreciation of the needs and pastoral priorities of Hispanic and young adults.

  • Encourages the human and spiritual formation of young adults by maintaining their attendance in the “Institute for Pastoral Formation”; establishing a network of youth retreats; monthly youth mass; and organizing events that will contribute to the formation of young adults, such as the Diocesan Youth Days, pilgrimages to local religious sites, artistic festivals, Diocesan and Interdiocesan Missions Door to Door, and other cultural events.

  • Supports parish-level Youth Ministers and other youth ministry leaders throughout the Diocese by providing reference materials for their parish programs and for use by youth organizations – e.g., Manual for Youth Leaders, and Handbook of Values (Valores Para los Jóvenes), event flyers, and calendars of activities.

Skills

The successful applicant will be fluent in Spanish; possess a Bachelor’s degree and have three years of full-time parish young adult ministry experience; and have a strong knowledge of the catholic faith.
