FINAL WORDS: PRECIOUS AND INSTRUCTIVE
A Homily Given by Arlington Bishop Paul S. Loverde on the Sixth Sunday of Easter at Saint Thomas More Cathedral in Arlington
The final words of a person who is about to die are very precious to that person’s loved ones. Today’s gospel account provides us with some of the thoughts in the Mind and Heart of Jesus Christ, shared initially with the Twelve Apostles, on the night before He was to die on the Cross for us and for our salvation. So, His words are indeed precious to us, His disciples, and they also give us advice and assistance in our living of the faith, in our union with Him.
Pentecost signifies the end of the Easter season and the founding of the Church, when the Holy Spirit descended upon the Disciples. Bishop Paul Loverde will celebrate this feast with RCIA confirmations at the Cathedral of St. Thomas More.
