Catholic Diocese of Arlington

Other Opportunities to get involved. . .

You may not be able to make a two-year commitment to the CRS/CCHD Committee. There are still other ways you can support this work:
  • Be a mentor to a local CCHD funded group or to a group who has the potential to become a funded group.  Assist them in filling out the grant application.  Keep the CCHD office informed about events that committee members or staff may want to attend.  As they grow, encourage them to apply for National funding and assist with the grant application.
  • Promote and support the annual CCHD collection in your parish.  Make sure CCHD educational materials are available in your pamphlet rack and offered to  the catechists.  Let us know if you want to become a contact person.
  • Join the CRS/CCHD Speakers Bureau.  Visit local parishes to talk about poverty, global solidarity and the work of CRS and CCHD to their Peace and Justice Committees, Senior Luncheons, Moms’ groups, CCD classes, youth groups. Speak at masses about the work of the funded groups the weekend before the CCHD collection in November.
  • Plan a Journey to Justice weekend for your parish so that people who cannot commit to the JustFaith process will learn about CCHD funded groups and better understand social change and the concept of solidarity in Catholic social teaching.
  • Do you have special skills?  Are you a grant writer who would be willing to conduct a workshop for potential funded groups?  A public speaker who could offer training to our speakers’ bureau?  A small business owner who could help develop a grant program for low-income entrepreneurs?  A meeting planner who would help with special events or a facilitator who conducts goal-setting sessions?  A travel agent who would plan a tour of CRS projects overseas?  We welcome your creative ideas!
  • Sign up for the quarterly newsletter from the National CCHD Office.  Email cchdpromo@usccb.org.
