GET INVOLVED - SUPPORT CCHD
Learn about the Catholic Campaign for Human Development and use your talents to support its work here in the Diocese of Arlington!
Other Opportunities to get involved. . .
You may not be able to make a two-year commitment to the CRS/CCHD Committee. There are still other ways you can support this work:
- Visit www.povertyusa.org to learn about poverty and visit the national CCHD website, to learn about CCHD’s mission, history and work.
- Pray for solutions to the conditions that give rise to poverty and for the fruitfulness of CCHD’s work with people in poverty.
- Sign up for the quarterly newsletter from the National CCHD Office. Email cchdpromo@usccb.org.
- Give generously to the Catholic Campaign for Human Development through the annual collection and through direct contribution at any time of year. Make your check payable to the Catholic Campaign for Human Development and send to Carla Walsh, Diocesan CCHD Coordinator, 200 N. Glebe Rd., Su. 506, Arlington, VA 22203.
- Contact your parish's Social Concerns Committee to learn about your parish’s efforts to fight poverty and serve the poor locally.
- Contact the Arlington Diocesan CCHD Coordinator
- to promote the CCHD collection in your parish. Ask your pastor to give a homily supportive of CCHD in the weeks leading up to the collection and visit the CCHD website to provide speaking points for him. Make sure CCHD educational materials are available in your church. Talk to fellow parishioners about CCHD;
- to offer your skills to the Diocesan CRS/CCHD office. Are you:
- a grant writer who would be willing to write grants for the Diocesan office?
- an experienced businessperson who could assist low-income entrepreneurs in developing business plans?
- a meeting planner who can help organize special events?
- an administrative assistant who can help with office tasks?
Chances are, if you have an idea about how you can help, the Diocesan office needs you.
Committee structure
Currently, twenty-six volunteers and two staff members serve on the CRS/CCHD Diocesan Committee. Click here to see a list of current members. Each January, the committee adds new members who serve a two-year term promoting and educating about CRS and CCHD and evaluating grant applications. Click here to download an application to become a member of the committee.
Want to Suggest a Grant Applicant?
Here in Arlington, CCHD is actively seeking grant applicants for this year, most specifically family oriented organizations that grasp and promote the dignity of the human person and meet CCHD criteria. If you have recommendations for grant recipients or would like more information, please contact CCHD Coordinator Carla Walsh at cwalsh@ccda.net.
