Loverde and Richmond Bishop Francis X. DiLorenzo on the baptismal responsibility of Virginia Catholics to participate in the political life of the Commonwealth and the country. The video explains seven key themes of Catholic social teaching, the duty to vote with a well-formed conscience, and opportunities for Catholics to help shape policy decisions through prayer and action. The Catholic Diocese of Arlington opens Pope John Paul the Great Catholic High School, its newest high school in over 20 years. Students, parents, teachers, administrators, and well-wishers joined in celebrating the opening on Sunday, August 17, 2008. John Paul the Great features the first high school-level Bioethics curriculum in the nation, state-of-the-art classrooms, a collegiate-style library, and a tabernacle blessed by Pope Benedict XVI during his visit to Washington, D.C. The school is lead by the Nashville Dominicans. |
