Relics of Padre Pio

Saint Padre Pio Relics come to Arlington

ARLINGTON, Va.  – On Saturday, May 20, 2017, and Sunday, May 21, 2017, the official relics of Saint Padre Pio of Pietrelcina will be on display at Saint Ann Catholic Church in Arlington.

Here is a list of the relics:

• A finger less glove that the saint used to cover his stigmata – mysterious wounds similar to those Jesus suffered on the cross
• A lock of hair of Padre Pio
• A piece from the bed upon which Padre Pio slept in the monastery
• A piece of cloth that Padre Pio used to clean his stigmata.

Saint Padre Pio was born in 1887 as Francesco Forgione in Pietrelcina, Italy.  He was a friar, a priest, bore the wounds of Christ, the stigmata, and was known to have committed several miracles.  He was beautified May 2, 1999, by Pope John Paul II.

This is the first U.S. tour to celebrate the 130th anniversary of Saint Padre Pio’s birth, and the 15th anniversary of his canonization.
