    USCCB Fortnight for Freedom - Northern Virginia, DC area

    The Fortnight for Freedom is an annual 14-day event held in dioceses and parishes across the United States to raise awareness about the importance of religious freedom. Launched in the summer of 2011 by the United States Catholic Conference of Bishops (USCCB), the Fortnight for Freedom initiative serves as a vital channel for promoting the preservation and protection of our religious liberty through prayer and activism across the country. This year's theme, "Witnesses to Freedom" will focus on men and women of faith throughout the world who have been strong witnesses to true freedom in Christ.

    We encourage you to participate in this important cause for the Catholic Church with your local parish community.

    Prayer for Religious Liberty

    Almighty God, Father of all nations,
    For freedom you have set us free in Christ Jesus (Gal 5:1).
    We praise and bless you for the gift of religious liberty,
    the foundation of human rights, justice, and the common good.
    Grant to our leaders the wisdom to protect and promote our liberties;
    By your grace may we have the courage to defend them, for ourselves and for all those who live in this blessed land.
    We ask this through the intercession of Mary Immaculate, our patroness,
    and in the name of your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
    with whom you live and reign, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
