PERMANENT DIACONATE
Fifty-seven permanent deacons currently serve in the Diocese of Arlington, and an additional thirty-seven men are currrently participating in the Diaconate Formation Program.
The formation, ministry, and life of permanent deacons are supported by the Director of Diaconate Formation, the Bishop's Delegate for Clergy and the Diaconal Council.
What is a permanent deacon?
A deacon is a man called personally and ecclesially to serve in the manner of Jesus. He is first and foremost a Christian in his state in life and in his secular employment. Application Process & requirements
The Permanent Diaconate Office welcomes applications from men of all communities and backgrounds. The presence and witness of deacons from all communities will assist in identifying community needs and advance the response of Christian service.
