Race for Seminarians Logo Medium

There are a number of options to race (and raise money for) seminarians this year.

Due to the unexpected early closing of registration for the Marine Corps 10K this year, our field of runners is greatly reduced.

If you already have a spot in the Marine Corps Marathon or 10K, you are welcome to join the Race for Seminarians Team hereMarathon runners have a fundraising goal of $350; 10K runners of $175.

If you do not have a space...Fear not! There are more opportunities for you to Race for Seminarians, offering your training and raising money for vocations in our diocese through your participation in another race (see below).

Not a runner? Please support those who are! Donations are tax-deductible, and can be made by credit card, cash or check. Our runners and seminarians also appreciate your prayers.

For all you walkers and runners out there, we’ve compiled the below list of races, thinking they are better known (and known to be fun), but you are welcome to choose any race. Then gather your sponsors and get training! Just as in the Marine Corps 10K, we ask runners to pledge to raise $175 for this cause, and support you with ideas and materials to make this happen.

Veterans Day 10K,  Saturday November 12, Washington DC

Marine Corps Turkey Trot, Saturday November 19, Quantico

Jingle All the Way Holiday 5K & 15K, Sunday December 4, Washington DC

St. Pat’s 5K & 10K (and double),  Sunday March 5, 2017, Washington, DC (registration is not yet open)

(Potomac River Running also has a number of races coming up.)

If you would like to participate in one of these races (or another), make sure to register first with that race to secure your spot, then contact our office to register you as part of the Race for Seminarians team. We will also send you materials to support your fundraising and training, and put you in touch with others who are running.  You can also network with other runners on the Race for Seminarians Facebook page.

Fundraising directly affects the work of the Office of Vocations in the Diocese of Arlington. Funds will assist those discerning a vocation to priesthood and those who are in seminary formation. The Diocese provides each seminarian with an education, housing and food, yet other unexpected expenses occur.  Your donations will help supplement discernment programs as well as pay for seminarian expenses not normally covered by the Diocese.
