Why I work in Youth Ministry

Hanging out with teens is one of the most fun things that you can do, and helping bring others closer to Christ is the greatest. So logic would dictate the connection here for my ministry. It is one of the four best parts of my life, right up there with faith, family and friends. But sadly "youth ministry" does not start with "F", so I cannot call them “The Four F's".

Also, WorkCamp has been my favorite week of the year every year since my first one in the Summer of 2001... other than the whole wedding week thing that just happened, of course! So, as I prepare for my ninth WorkCamp along with many other programs, trainings and events with my coworkers, it is truly an honor, a blessing, to be serving the Coordinators of Youth Ministry in the Diocese of Arlington. I like pizza, too.

About Me
Originally from Connecticut, graduated from UVA with a B.S. in Civil Engineering; working toward an M.A. in Theology & Christian Ministry at Franciscan University at Steubenville. Moved to Arlington after graduation to work for a general contractor, and shortly after that stumbled upon high school youth ministry when recruited to volunteer at St. Charles Borromeo.

Then, after many years of weekly youth group meetings, retreats, fundraisers and WorkCamp trips, the call to serve in youth ministry full-time presented itself to me in a unique WAY. In my current role coordinating the Diocesan WorkCamp, I am able to combine the two career-related things I that enjoy the most, engineering & project management with youth ministry.

I also met my wife Melissa while volunteering with the high schoolers at St. Charles, and this is where we were married in November 2008!
