Day of Prayer for Peace called for over Ukraine/Russia tension

On Sunday, January 23, in response to growing tensions along the Russia-Ukraine border, Pope Francis has called for a “day of prayer for peace” to take place on Wednesday, January 26. Bishop Burbidge has asked all priests in the Diocese to pray for peace during weekday Masses this Wednesday.

While Bishop Burbidge is in the Dominican Republic visiting our diocesan mission in Bánica, Fr. Jamie Workman, Vicar General for the Diocese of Arlington, will celebrate Mass at 12:05 p.m. at Saint Thomas More Cathedral. All are welcome to attend. The intention of the Mass will be for peace between Russia and Ukraine at this delicate time.

May all people pray that Christ's peace and wisdom will inspire world leaders to avoid violence and find peaceful ways to resolve disputes.
