St. John the Beloved

Learn what led Fr. Wilton to the seminary.

What influenced your decision to apply for seminary entrance?

I believed God was calling me to be a priest (and a Navy Chaplain) and I wanted to discern further God's call; to determine whether it was genuine, or simply my own desires.

Why do you want to be a priest?

To bring Christ's message of salvation to all; to save my soul, and to save the souls of those I am called to serve.

What are your favorite pastimes?

Reading and weight lifting

What is your favorite quote?

"Anyone who goes to Mary and prays the Rosary cannot be troubled by Satan." Fr. Gabriel Amorth, Chief exorcist of the Vatican

Who is your favorite Saint and why?

St. John Paul II. His courage and tenacity to declare the truth of Jesus Christ, and having seen first hand the evil of Nazism followed by the evil of Communism; only to be swiftly followed by the evil of moral relativism, yet he remained steadfast. He is just like Athanasius and St. Thomas Moor: two defenders of Catholic orthodoxy in the face of heresies.

What advice would you give to a young man thinking about the seminary?

Trust God and apply. What do you have to lose? If you have the slightest inkling that our Lord is calling you, apply! The harvest is plenty, but the laborers are few. Matthew 9:35-39

If there are any other facts about yourself that people might find interesting, you can note them here:

I have been to combat twice and witnessed the horrors of war.  Despite this, my experiences only served to reinforce my Christian faith, not destroy it, but also it served to affirm my faith in the incontrovertible truth and virtues of the theory of Just War.
