Conference releases 2017 side-by-side comparisons of candidates for governor, lt. governor and attorney general

On Tuesday, November 7, Virginians will cast ballots to elect their governor, lieutenant governor and attorney general. In order to help voters prepare for these elections the Virginia Catholic Conference has released its 2017 voter education materials.
As it has done for other elected offices previously, the Conference is pleased to share its three separate side-by-side comparisons of the positions of candidates for state offices:

Conference staff compiled the above resources from policies, public statements, official campaign websites, party platforms and other sources to help voters understand where the candidates stand on important issues before casting their ballots. Spanish translations of the candidate comparisons for governor, lieutenant governor and attorney general are also available.
The issues do not represent a complete list of issues that may be of importance to Catholics.  The Conference neither supports nor opposes candidates for public office.
As they discern how to cast their ballots in the three statewide races as well as in local House of Delegates races, voters are encouraged to consult the  Four Principles of Catholic Social Teaching. Spanish translation is available on the second side of the document.

In addition, the Conference’s guidelines for political activities for parishes and other Catholic entities can be found  here.

NOTE: The Dioceses of Richmond and Arlington authorize parishes to use only materials provided by the diocese, the Virginia Catholic Conference and the USCCB. Non-diocesan voter-education resources are not authorized for parish use.

Please pray before you vote on Nov. 7.

In prayer and in public, your voices are urgently needed to bring Gospel values to bear on vital decisions being made by those who represent you.
