Bishop Burbidge Appoints New Head of School for
Bishop Ireton Catholic High School

Dear Bishop Ireton Community:

I am pleased to announce that Bishop Burbidge has appointed Mrs. Kathleen McNutt as Head of School for Bishop Ireton Catholic High School, effective July 1, 2019.

Mrs. McNutt is a graduate of St. Mary’s Academy and mother to three alumni of Bishop Ireton and two current students, including Morgan who will graduate this year. Her husband, Geoff, is a member of the Class of 1987 from Bishop Ireton as well. She is the principal of St. Louis Catholic School, a major feeder school for Bishop Ireton and also serves as a member of the Board of Governors for Bishop Ireton.

During her campus visit, Mrs. McNutt engaged with a variety of stakeholders and impressed all that interacted with her. Her knowledge of the school, her understanding of the opportunities and challenges at Bishop Ireton, and her warm personality were evident throughout the process. Kathleen is excited to begin her new position. Upon accepting the position, she expressed, “I am excited to accept my new position as Head of School, and I look forward to working with the Board of Governors, faculty, staff, parents, and students as we dedicate ourselves to excellence through a Christ-centered community immersed in the Salesian tradition.  I am blessed by the opportunity to lead this outstanding academic institution into the future.”

In conveying his decision, Bishop Burbidge shared, "I am very pleased to appoint Kathleen McNutt as Head of School at Bishop Ireton High School. I look forward to collaborating with Kathleen in the next chapter of Bishop Ireton's outstanding history."

As Search Chair, I am grateful for the service of my fellow committee members, Fr. John Kelly, Deacon Malcolm D’Souza, Kay Green, Mike Cammisa, and Marie Powell. The search committee did an excellent job of listening to the needs of the school throughout the process and vetting well-qualified candidates for the school.

There will be opportunities in the coming weeks for the Bishop Ireton community to welcome Mrs. McNutt as the new Head of School. Please keep her and her family in your prayers during this time of transition.
