Filipino Catholic Community

Our Filipino Catholic Community is supported by the Fil-Min NOVA (Filipino Ministry of Northern Virginia) ministry, which arranges Masses, provides outreach programs, and developed Paaralang Pinoy, a Filipino Catholic cultural school. Annually, the community gathers to celebrate Simbang Gabi, the Novena of Masses during Advent, throughout numerous parishes throughout the diocese to spiritually prepare for the birth of Christ.

Salubong

Salubong

“Salubong”, Tagalog for “Meeting”, is a Filipino tradition where the faithful gather at dawn on Easter to participate in the reenactment of the encounter of Christ and his mother on the day of His Resurrection. The Salubong features statues of the Risen Christ and the Virgin Mary in two separate processions eventually meeting in front of the church and commencing a glorious celebration. All are welcome!
