Diocesan Liturgical Commission

The mission of the Diocesan Liturgical Commission is to assist the Bishop of Arlington in his role as the moderator, promoter, and guardian of the liturgical life of the Diocese. The responsibilities of the Diocesan Liturgical Commission are to be acquainted with the state of pastoral liturgical activity in the Diocese, to assist in the faithful implementation of universal and particular norms, guidelines, and instructions with regard to liturgical matters, to recommend and promote practical programs that advance the liturgical life of the Diocese, and to provide counsel to the Bishop in liturgical matters. The Commission fulfills its role in two ways: in its consultative capacity, the Commission assists the Bishop by assessing the liturgical needs of the Diocese and assisting in the development of norms and guidelines as needed for the implementation of the Roman Rite, and in its formative capacity, the Commission assists the Office of Divine Worship in catechetical and liturgical formation throughout the Diocese on the diocesan, deanery, and parish levels.
