Religious Order Events

If you are interested in religious life, making a visit to the convent or monastery is key to learning more about their spirituality, life and charism. Many religious sisters speak of having their vocation confirmed by feeling "at home" when they arrived at the convent.

Though some events are virtual at this point, they can still help you along your path, and if you are in touch with the order's vocation directress she can let you know when it is possible to visit the convent.

Here are some events we are aware of, or contact the order you're considering to see when you can go:

The Nashville Dominicans have these retreats scheduled; visit their website for more information and to register

The Daughters of Holy Mary of the Heart of Jesus in Steubenville, OH have a Come and See retreat for young women April 5-7. More info here.

The Religious Sisters of Mercy of Alma, Michigan, have a Come and See Retreat May 17-19, 2024 (pre-interview required); they have a spiritual retreat for young women (18-35) February 15-18, 2024. Visit their website for more info.

The Benedictine Sisters of Virginia host some events for Single Women Seeking God's Will, including a  Lenten experience of “Praying With Lamentations” on Sunday, February 11 from 2-4 PM. We will share the history and experience the very special impact of this prayer. The Trappist nuns at Our Lady of the Mississippi Abbey are holding Come and See retreats March 15-17 and October 25-27, 2024. More info here.

The Servants of the Lord and the Virgin of Matará hold a Come & See weekend as well as Weekend Spiritual exercise retreats in Brooklyn, NY; Pizza nights (select Fridays from starting with adoration at 7:00 pm for young women to join them for adoration, evening prayer, dinner and recreation), and garden days (select Saturdays, for all ages, families or individuals, from 10:30-3:30pm and includes working in the garden with the sisters, lunch provided at noon). To RSVP  for pizza or gardening just call or email a day in advance.
