Topic: Catholic Social Teaching

In-service training is intended to immerse DYMs and other youth workers in to a certain topic relevant to their ministry. The day also serves as an opportunity to develop a specific youth ministry skill. The morning session of this in-service will count toward the Catholic Social Teaching requirement in the Certificate Training Program.

Ahead of the first World Day of the Poor, this In-Service will develop our understanding of the social doctrine of the Church, with a particular emphasis on responding to the needs of the poor and vulnerable in our society. Our guest speakers will present an overview of Catholic Social Teaching and discuss our local efforts at encountering the poor in charitable works. We will reflect on the seamless nature of moral issues regarding the dignity of the human person. We will consider ways we can increase awareness of the poor among the young people we serve, while establishing further opportunities for Christian service.

Who’s Invited

This training is being offered to everyone that works with youth in the diocese, all parish Directors of Youth Ministry, their volunteer teams, DREs, and parish priests.
