Parish breaks ground on new church -and school classrooms

ARLINGTON, Va. – On Friday, December 7, Saint Patrick Parish in Fredericksburg will break ground on a new church and additional classrooms. The new two-story building will feature a sanctuary with seating for 650 persons, and six new classrooms for middle school students, including an art room, music room, and resource room on the first floor.

The current church seats approximately 250 people, and for more than 15 years, middle school students have attended class in trailers.  An architectural rendering of the new church and classrooms are attached.

Father John Ziegler, pastor at Saint Patrick, says he is elated. “So many parishioners here have demonstrated such a tremendous level of support and generosity over the years during our Glory of God campaign. May the Lord richly bless and reward each one of them. And how grateful we are to Him that our plans for a new church and middle school can finally be realized,” he said.
 

The parish is named after the patron saint of Ireland. The current church was built in 1985 and is located half a mile north of Route 3 in the Civil War Chancellorsville Battlefield area of Spotsylvania County.
