Joseph-Brooks-300

Joseph A. Brooks, Jr

Grand Knight, Knights of Peter Claver
St. Joseph, Alexandria

Joseph was born and raised (Baptist) in New Orleans, La.  He attended Xavier University of Louisiana, where he majored in their dual degree Physics/Pre-Engineering program.  Three years after completing the program, he attended the University of New Orleans and received a degree in Electrical Engineering.  In 1984 he began working for the Department of the Army and in 1985 he transferred to the Night Vision Laboratory, located at Fort Belvoir, VA.  Later that year, he married Desiree Talton and moved to Alexandria, Va.  After about two weeks, they found St. Joseph Church (his wife grew up in a Josephite parish in New Orleans) and have been members for almost 35 years. In 1997, he converted to Catholicism, because he wanted to attend church as a family, with our two daughters. He serves on various ministries within the Church: as a member of the St. Joseph Gospel Choir, on the Pastoral Council, Co-Chairs the parish Faith Formation group with his wife, assists in decorating the Church during the Easter and Christmas seasons, and has served on various ad hoc committees at the Church.  He is currently the Grand Knight of the Knights of Peter Claver Council 398 (KofPC), and is the Co-Chair of the Human Trafficking Committee, which is one of five subcommittees under the KofPC National Social Justice Committee.
