With all in the Diocese of Arlington, I express profound sadness in learning of the violent and incomprehensible shooting in Chesapeake, Virginia. Together, we pray for all who died and were injured, and for strength and consolation for their family members.
As we approach the celebration of Thanksgiving, we are most grateful for the precious gift of life. It is to be celebrated, defended and cherished. I ask all the faithful and people of good will to be united in prayer for the end of violence in our communities and for the protection of the sacredness of all human life.
