The CCHD Multimedia Youth Contest

Our diocese participates in "Creating on the Margins," the CCHD Multimedia Youth Contest. The contest is sponsored by the national office of the Catholic Campaign to engage young people in grades 7-12 in learning about poverty in the U.S., its causes, and faith-inspired efforts to address it. They are then guided to create and use their multimedia work to educate peers, family, friends and others about what they have learned.

How the contest works:

  • Work can be in any medium (video, PowerPoint, short story, painting, poetry, drama, song, or photography). The work must be original and illustrate the annual theme.  The 2018 theme is Share the Journey of Young Migrants and Refugees.
  • Work is submitted to the diocesan CCHD program office in early March.  Entries are judged in two categories based on grade level: 7-9 and 10-12.  One diocesan winner is chosen from each category and sent to the national contest by the end of March.  Each diocesan winner is awarded a cash prize.
  • The national grand prize winner is drawn from both categories and receives a cash prize plus a trip to a national awards event.  Second and third place prizes are also given. In addition, the national winners’ schools or parishes receive gift certificates from RCL Benziger.
