Sisters in the Spirit

Sisters in the Spirit (SIS) is a faith filled ministry made up of women of color, promoting Catholic principles and a positive self-image in the family, church, African and African American Communities, and in the larger community. All women of any color are welcome to join Sisters in the Spirit! 

Sisters in the Spirit's mission is to create a network of Catholic Women of Color, guided by the Holy Spirit, inspired by the Blessed Mother, sharing the African American Catholic Heritage and tradition through:

  • Programs that enlighten, develop, and strengthen our faith;
  • Compassion and service for those having spiritual, social and/or economic needs;
  • Striving to be a positive spiritual light and evangelizing force in the world.

Sisters in the Spirit Summer Meeting

Join Sisters in the Spirit for their Summer Meeting at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 711 N. Columbus Street, Alexandria, VA 22314. All are welcome! The meeting will begin at 1:00 p.m. and end at 3:00 p.m. Speakers and topics include Beverly Anderson, speaking about the USCCB Convocation for Catholic Leaders, and Patricia English, speaking about the National Black Catholic Congress XII. A BBQ Lunch will be provided. Please join us!
