Corpus Christi Procession with Bishop Burbidge at Saint Marys

at Saint Mary's in Alexandria

On the Feast of Corpus Christi, Bishop Burbidge made a stop at St. Mary Catholic Church in Alexandria, Virginia to celebrate Mass, offering special prayers for peace and unity within the community in light of the recent violence.

After the Mass, accompanied by Fr. Hathaway, Bishop Burbidge led a Eucharistic procession for seven blocks, bringing Jesus, “the source of our peace and unity,” into their streets. Hundreds of the faithful followed behind the procession in silent prayer.

Once they reached St. Mary's cemetery, Bishop Burbidge and those present participated in Eucharist adoration.

After adoration, the procession returned to St. Mary's for benediction and an informal reception.
