SUMMARY:Manassas Theology on Tap - Dr. Christopher Gross
DESCRIPTION:Speaker: Dr. Christopher Gross\nTopic: "Infinite Dignity for Finite Beings?"\n \nThe word "dignity" is invoked frequently in our contemporary cultural debates. However\, it is defined in a myriad of ways that are not always compatible. Delving into the new Vatican document on human dignity\, this talk clarifies how the Church understands human dignity and highlights some of the contemporary assaults on it.\nBIO: A native of Virginia\, Dr. Gross earned his B.A. in political science and religion from Hampden-Sydney College. After completing his M.T.S. at Harvard Divinity School\, he earned his Ph.D. from Catholic University of America in 2013. Over the last ten years\, he has taught a variety of graduate and undergraduate courses both online and in the classroom for several different institutions. He currently serves as an Assistant Professor at Divine Mercy University\, where he teaches courses on philosophical and theological anthropology as well as marriage and family. Dr. Gross's writing has appeared in academic journals such as the Journal of Moral Theology\, the Journal of Psychology and Theology\, and the National Catholic Bioethics Quarterly. His current research interests are in the area of Thomistic virtue ethics\, theological and philosophical anthropology\, marriage formation\, and bioethics. He resides in Manassas\, VA\, with his wife Jennifer and their seven children.\n-------------------------------------------------------------------------------\nManassas TOT\, cosponsored by the Diocese of Arlington Young Adult Ministry and All Saints Young Adults\, is held on the second Monday of each month at the Old Towne Sports Pub\, located at 8971 Center St. Manassas\, VA 20110.\nAll young adults (ages 19-35) single and married of all faith backgrounds are invited.\nFood and drinks are served starting at 6:30 p.m.\, then the talk begins at 7:30 p.m. & ends with Q&A.\nQuestions?
