SUMMARY:FIAT Camp Staff applications
DESCRIPTION:If you really feel that God may be calling you to life as a religious sister\, time spent at FIAT is an excellent way to “try it out” - you're living and praying and working and laughing with sisters as you serve alongside them at our discernment camp for high school girls.  \nThis is also an excellent opportunity to grow as a Catholic woman leader. \nYou will get to know the sisters as individuals\, hear how God revealed His plan to them\, and also hear about the prayer life and apostolic works of their orders.  You will also participate in the daily prayer of the camp: Mass\, Holy Hour\, Rosary\, and meditations and talks given by the sisters\, and serve as assistant group leaders for the 100 high school girls who come to grow in their own discernment.  \nThe camp is held at Mount St. Mary's Seminary in Emmitsburg\, MD and is always an amazing experience. Dates for 2025 are July 19-24. Applications are accepted January 1-31\, 2025; contact the Office of Vocations if you are interested.

SUMMARY:Lecture: Why would a loving God allow evil\, pain and suffering
DESCRIPTION:This apologetics presentation looks at how the greatest Christian thinkers of all time have dealt with the problem of evil and the mystery of suffering in a world made and pronounced “good” by God. \n\nPresentation Overview:\nIf God loves us so much and is so powerful\, why does He allow us to suffer from the effects of evil human behavior\, physical and emotional pain and disease\, and natural disasters? This apologetics presentation looks at how the greatest Christian thinkers of all time have dealt with the problem of evil and the mystery of suffering in a world made and pronounced “good” by God. This will help us and those we love become better\, instead of bitter\, when facing hardships and difficulties. \nGod allows suffering to teach us spiritual truths\, to build our character\, and to help us become more like Him. Christians find that even the suffering and hardships in our lives are signs of God’s love and opportunities for spiritual growth\, if we turn to God and place our hope and trust in Him. \n\nDates: \n\n\nOctober 17\, 2024\, 7:00 p.m. at Saint Agnes in Arlington \nOctober 24\, 2024\, 7:00 p.m. at  Holy Spirit in Annandale \nJanuary 29\, 2025\, 7:00 p.m. at Christ the Redeemer in Sterling \nMarch 16\, 2025\,  6:45 p.m. at Sacred Heart in Winchester \n\nContact: \nFor more information\, email Ana Lisa Pinon: analisa.pinon@arlingtondiocese.org.
