ARLINGTON, Va. – More than 200 couples will attend the annual Marriage Jubilee Mass at Our Lady of Hope Church in Potomac Falls Sunday, October 15, with Most Reverend Michael F. Burbidge, Bishop of Arlington. The couples attending are celebrating their 25th or 50th wedding anniversaries and were married in either 1967 or 1992.

Here’s the breakdown:

121 couples celebrating their 25th anniversary

94 couples celebrating their 50th anniversary

That’s 7,725 years combined.

"It is quite an honor to have Bishop Burbidge bless our marriage,” says Donna Hart. She and her husband, Chester, have been married for 50 years and have four children. Mrs. Hart believes the secret to their marriage is faith. “We both came from troubled homes and overcame a lot of obstacles without much support from family when we first got married, but we wanted to have a family and trusted God to help us through and He did. We didn’t do it all by ourselves. It would have been impossible without God’s help.”

In a statement, Bishop Burbidge says, “I am grateful to the married couples in the Diocese of Arlington who serve as faithful witnesses to Christian matrimony, and I pray that the Lord may continue to bless them.”
