Quo Vadis Summer Discernment Camp

Unfortunately due to Maryland state COVID-19 restrictions we have had to cancel Quo Vadis Camp this summer. We sincerely regret having to do this, as this summer would have been the 14th year of Quo Vadis Camp, and these camps have made such a difference for many young men as they plot their course in life.

If you would like to be added to our mailing list for future events, email vocations@arlingtondiocese.org.

About Quo Vadis Camp

  • Quo Vadis Camp is a great opportunity to explore your vocation, grow in prayer and friendship, and learn more about the priesthood and seminary life.
  • It's five days and four nights at Mount St. Mary's Seminary with other young men as well as the seminarians, priests and religious brothers who staff the camp.
  • The mornings include Mass and talks, the afternoons are sports and recreation, and evening events are a mix of spiritual and fun. There is also a pilgrimage to the Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes.

The camp is for rising 9-12 graders.

See photos from the 2019 camp and read the Catholic Herald article about it. The 2019 Quo Vadis Camp was a roaring success (in spite of starting off with a thunderstorm!). It was held July 7-11 at Mount St. Mary's Seminary. The theme was "Made for Greatness" and included talks on that theme as well as tips on prayer, directed meditations, sports tournaments and fun and fellowship.

Here are some comments from participants:

  • “For any guy trying to get serious about prayer and exploring vocations, this camp really is helpful in getting that started. It is also a lot of fun.”
  • “I would recommend [Quo Vadis Camp] because not only was it incredibly fun, but the spiritual strength and fraternity were amazing.”
  • This camp really improves your ability to know yourself, whether you're discerning priesthood or married life. The camp also helps you with your prayer life while being fun and getting to meet the seminarians.”
  • My favorite part of the camp was the overwhelming presence of God. I want to thank you all for re-kindling my love of prayer.”
  • “[What I enjoyed most was] the witness of the seminarians and brothers. They were full of joy and enthusiasm. They were a ton of fun and I was really inspired by their sacrifice.”
  • The connection between holiness and happiness is really awesome to see.”

We are thrilled these camps have received such a great response; at the same time, we regret that we don't have the time or the space to accommodate more campers.

While these camps are an opportunity for young people to grow closer to God and discern their vocations, they are not the only means. If your son or daughter is exploring his or her vocation, please contact the Vocations Director and he would be happy to help in any way he can.
