St. Charles Borromeo Seminary
St. Patrick Parish

What did you do prior to entering seminary?

I went to high school at Holy Family Academy in Manassas and had also been working at the local farm, Miller Farms.

What influenced your decision to apply for seminary entrance?

The joy of receiving Christ's love and mercy in the forms of Holy Communion and Confession for the first time. Also going to an ordination and seeing the priest prostrate himself before the bishop, the altar, and people of God, laying down His entire life in the service of the Church and to bring all to a deeper union with Christ, including His saving mercy in the Sacrament of Penance.

Why do you want to be a priest?

I believe I am being called by God to be for others, to serve their needs over mine. I believe that God has given me the desire to bring others to Him in the forms of His saving mercy in confession and His nourishment for the journey of the soul in His Body and Blood. Lastly, I want all to be happy with Christ in heaven and for this to happen, all souls need nourishment and encouragement along the path of life, and by observing priests, they are totally fulfilled in serving the Church and being instruments of Christ’s salvation for others in order for them to attain Him, and I want to be totally fulfilled by serving others for Christ.

What are your favorite pastimes?

Playing sports, playing with my brothers, and studying history, science, and religion.

What is your favorite quote?

I have many, but here are two: “His mother said to the waiters: “Whatsoever He shall say to you, do ye”.” - John 2:5 “For he received from God the Father honor and glory, this voice coming down to Him from the excellent glory: “This is my beloved son, in whom I am well pleased. Hear ye Him”.” - 2 Peter 1:17

Who is your favorite Saint and why?

Blessed Jose Sanches del Rio and Saint John Vianney. Blessed Jose because he is a great example of why it is important to die fighting for our faith and even the smallest and simplest can show the importance of what it truly means to be Catholic. Saint John Vianney is a great example of why we need all men to respond to God’s call to holiness and to live out His will everyday of our lives. Also we must live our lives fully in the light of Christ, follow behind Him carrying our cross, and to grow deeper in our love for Him.

What advice would you give to a young man thinking about the seminary?

Let your heart guide you. Be open to the will of God and let your heart be transformed into the heart of Jesus. He will guide you in the path towards Him if you desire to follow Him. Lastly be a man in love with Jesus, the king of your heart. This can only be found in prayer and speaking with your heart with Jesus.
