Catholic Campout 2019

April 5-7, 2019 Scouting_Group
Haymarket, VA
Camp Snyder
Registration Deadline: March 8

The Diocese of Arlington’s Catholic Campout 2019 will feature an opportunity for scouting and adventure youth groupings and families to come together for a weekend of fun and faithful fellowship. Options to participate:

  • All weekend: Campout under the stars on Friday and/or Saturday night
  • Attend Saturday only
  • Attend Mass with Bishop Burbidge late Saturday afternoon

Registration may be done either as FAMILY or UNIT. You must also register if you will attend only the evening Mass with the Bishop.

Female Unit or Male Unit: All participating Adult Leaders must be compliant with the youth protection guidelines established by the diocesan Office for the Protection of Children and Young People (OPCYP). A minimum of two OPCYP compliant adults are required per unit with one compliant adult for every 5 youth.

  1. Unit/Family: This typically occurs with younger youth programs (e.g., Kindergarten to 5th/6thgrades). If camping, these units will be placed in the FAMILY CAMPING AREA.
  2. Family: Parents, scouts, and siblings coming as a family.
  3. Permission Forms/Waivers must be completed for each youth AND adult and should be submitted at the same time as payment. Forms may be found below:

REGISTRATION DEADLINE (with payments): March 8

    • The facility has ponds/lakes/other water on site—parents/leaders are responsible for their children.
    • Camping = tent camping in primitive camping sites or field.
    • While the facility is private, in parents’/leaders’ minds this should be treated as if it were a public campground situation. Adult Leaders are NOT simply chaperones, they are directly responsible for the safety and well-being of their group at the Campout. Leaders should be eating meals with youth, praying with them, and guiding them in activities.
    • If you have special medical needs (e.g., CPAP, accessibility concerns, etc.) please email prior to registration to see how the facility might meet your needs.
    • There is no cost for parents/guardians/official unit leaders.
    • If any camping is involved, the cost is $20 per YOUTH regardless of the number of nights stayed.
    • If a YOUTH only attends Saturday activities the cost is $10 per YOUTH.
    • There is no cost for those who come exclusively for Mass, however, they must register.
    • For families with multiple children, the cost is a maximum of $50.
    • No Refunds (practically speaking). Due to the advance payments made for facility and planning, refunds will only be issued if the event is cancelled due to emergency situations, catastrophic weather-related circumstances orother unforeseen circumstances. The Campout will not be cancelled due to most weather conditions.
