Office of Divine Worship
The mission of the Office of
Divine Worship is to assist the Bishop in promoting the full, conscious, and
active participation of all the faithful in liturgical celebrations in the
Diocese of Arlington. Therefore, the Office of Divine Worship offers pastoral
and liturgical formation for the clergy and laity of the Diocese of Arlington,
and it serves as a resource for parishes and organizations in their
preparations for liturgical celebrations.
“Mother
Church earnestly desires that all the faithful should be led to that full,
conscious, and active participation in liturgical celebrations which is
demanded by the very nature of the liturgy. Such participation by the Christian
people as a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a redeemed people
is their right and duty by reason of their baptism.” (Second Vatican Council,
Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy, no. 14)
