Admission Steps for International Students

Information on becoming a non-immigrant international students attending a diocesan school (F-1 visa, I-20 application, I-901 fee).


The Catholic Church has always made every effort to welcome all nationalities into her community of faith. In order to further this effort, the Diocese of Arlington will endeavor to remain  certified by the U.S. Department of Homeland  Security to admit F-1 (Non-Immigrant) students. The F-1 (Non-Immigrant) student  status applies to those aliens who are in the United States for the purpose of  attending school.

An international student must have an F-1 visa or a visa status as indicated on the Non-Immigrant: Who Can Study chart in order to be enrolled in and attend a school in the US.

ADMISSIONS PROCESS

  1. APPLY to and meet all the admission requirements for the Diocese of Arlington school of choice
  2. COMPLETE Diocese of Arlington I-20 Application and submit to the school
  3. PICK UP I-20 from the Office of Catholic Schools office after receiving notification that the I-20 is available
  4. NOTE: I-20s must be picked up and will not be mailed.
  5. PAY the I-901 fee and save a copy of your receipt.
  6. SCHEDULE visa interview with the local US Consulate.

TRANSFER STUDENTS (students currently studying in the United States who hold an F-1 visa)

  1. APPLY to and meet all the admission requirements for the Diocese of Arlington school of choice
  2. COMPLETE Diocese of Arlington Transfer Report and submit to current school along with Diocese of Arlington SEVIS School Codes and a copy o the acceptance letter.
    If classes are in session, the student must continue to attend classes until the transfer release date.
    The transfer release date is determined in consultation with the Designated School Official of the current school.
  3. SUBMIT Diocese of Arlington I-20 application with a copy of the student's current passport and visa to the Diocese of Arlington schoo
  4. PICK UP I-20 from the Office of Catholic Schools after receiving notification that the I-20 is available
