The Office of Child Protection
The Office of Child Protection performs background checks on employees and volunteers working with children, and oversees the safe environment training programs for adults and youth. The office supports parishes and schools in providing a safe environment for child-centric programs and provides guidance on best practices. The office also ensures compliance with USSCB child protection guidelines under the Charter on the Protection of Children through an annual audit.

Catholic Bishop Abuse Reporting Service
To report an incident of sexual abuse and related misconduct by a bishop, please contact the Catholic Bishop Abuse Reporting Service at ReportBishopAbuse.org or call (800) 276-1562. The Catholic Bishop Abuse Reporting Service will receive and relay those reports to the proper Church authorities for investigation. Where a report includes a crime, such as the sexual abuse of a minor, it will also be reported to civil authorities. Otherwise, reports will be kept confidential. The Catholic Diocese of Arlington embraces the rights of children and adults to be safe from sexual misconduct and/or abuse. The Catholic Diocese of Arlington is dedicated to the protection of all children and will strive to maintain a safe environment for children and young people, to prevent their physical abuse, sexual abuse and neglect, and to bring the healing ministry of the Catholic Diocese of Arlington to bear wherever possible. This Policy builds on a policy issued by the Catholic Diocese of Arlington in 1991 which has been updated from time to time.
