Why I work in Youth Ministry
It is a great joy and passion for me to assist (by God’s grace!) the Holy Spirit in putting young people in touch with Jesus! I enjoy very much the work of youth ministry: the prayer, planning and scheduling involved in setting an occasion (a youth night, retreat or other event) in which to reach young people for Christ.

About Me
Born in Michigan, I spent much of my youth in the Wolverine state (Go Blue!). However, I attended junior high and high school in Manassas, VA, returning to Michigan in the summertime (my folks kept their home in Michigan). After high school, I attended Franciscan University of Steubenville. My experience at Steubenville energized and solidified my faith.

I had wanted to be a meteorologist, so I transferred from Franciscan to the University of Oklahoma to study meteorology. Being a church-going Catholic living in the dorms, I quickly became known as “church-guy”. I found myself enjoying the many conversations I had about Jesus and the Catholic Faith – much more than my meteorology studies. I quickly decided to switch career paths for a life of church work and ministry.

I ended up receiving a Bachelor’s in Theology from Ave Maria College. After working as a residence director at Ave Maria, I went to Rome to study graduate Theology at the Pontifical University of St. Thomas (the Angelicum), where I met my wife. I received the Baccalaureate in Sacred Theology (S.T.B.), equivalent to a Master’s in coursework, from the Angelicum.

Since then, I have worked in Catholic high school education and campus ministry, parish youth ministry, religious education for children and adults and evangelization.

My wife and I are blessed with five children.

I am excited to join the Office of Youth Ministry in bringing my background and experience to the team in our important efforts at serving the leaders of youth ministry and youth in the parishes!
