The Diocese of Arlington is both honored and proud to take part in the 2026 Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini National Eucharistic Pilgrimage to help celebrate the 250th Anniversary of the founding of the United States of America.
The pilgrimage will begin in Saint Augustine, Florida on Memorial Day weekend and conclude in Philadelphia on July 5. During the 42 day-route, pilgrims will visit most of the original 13 colonies as they pay homage to our country’s birth, with the theme, “One Nation Under God.”
Pilgrims will arrive in the Arlington Diocese on Friday, June 5 for a 7 p.m. Holy Hour at the Basilica of Saint Mary in Alexandria to pray for vocations. In a particular way, Bishop Michael F. Burbidge has called us to pray in and for thanksgiving for the seven men being ordained to the sacred priesthood in the Diocese of Arlington on June 6. The pilgrimage returns to the Diocese of Arlington Sunday, June 7 for the Feast of Corpus Christi. Bishop Michael Burbidge will celebrate a Mass of Thanksgiving at 10:45 a.m. at Saint William of York Catholic Church in Stafford County. Please make sure to arrive early. Pilgrims are invited to stay for a 70th Anniversary of the parish celebration immediately following the Mass.

Mother Cabrini was the very first American citizen to be declared a saint, having come to New York from Italy to help serve the poor in the late 19th century. Mother Cabrini had tremendous devotion to the Holy Eucharist. The order she founded, the Missionary Sisters of Sacred Heart of Jesus, served the poor, the sick, the marginalized and the newcomer, when many others looked the other way. She was the first canonized American saint on July 7, 1946.
