Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Each year from September 15 through October 15, the United States celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month—a time to honor the rich contributions of Hispanic Americans and the many Latin American ancestors whose faith, culture, and sacrifices have helped to shape our Church and nation. Many of our Hispanic brothers and sisters have journeyed here far from home in the hope of greater economic opportunity and stability. We are grateful for the spiritual traditions and devotions they bring which are gifts that enrich the entire diocesan community.
We live in a moment in which many among our Hispanic community face profound challenges: uncertainty, separation, fear, and the longing for safety and opportunity. Their daily life can inspire us with Christian hope. As Pope Leo XIV reminds us, Hispanic immigrants are witnesses of hope who “demonstrate … their resilience and trust in God, as they face adversity while seeking a future in which they glimpse that integral human development and happiness are possible.”
Through the intercession of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Patroness of the Americas and Star of the New Evangelization, may Our Lord Jesus continue to bless and watch over our Hispanic brothers and sisters today and always.

Queridos hermanos y hermanas en Cristo:
Cada año, del 15 de septiembre al 15 de octubre, en los Estados Unidos se celebra el Mes de la Herencia Hispana, un tiempo para reconocer las valiosas contribuciones de los hispanos estadounidenses y de tantos antepasados latinoamericanos cuya fe, cultura y sacrificios han ayudado a forjar nuestra Iglesia y nuestra nación. Muchos de nuestros hermanos y hermanas hispanos han dejado su tierra natal en busca de mejores oportunidades y de una vida más estable para sus familias. Damos gracias por las tradiciones espirituales y devociones que comparten con nosotros, verdaderos dones que enriquecen a toda nuestra comunidad diocesana.
En este tiempo, somos conscientes de que muchos en nuestra comunidad hispana enfrentan graves desafíos: incertidumbre, separación, temor y el anhelo de seguridad y de nuevas oportunidades. Su vida diaria, sin embargo, nos ofrece un testimonio que nos anima a la esperanza cristiana. Como señala el Papa León XIV, los inmigrantes hispanos son testigos de esperanza que “manifiestan … su fortaleza y confianza en Dios al enfrentar la adversidad mientras buscan un futuro en el que perciben que el desarrollo humano integral y la auténtica felicidad son posibles.”
Por la intercesión de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe, Patrona de las Américas y Estrella de la Nueva Evangelización, pedimos a Nuestro Señor Jesucristo que continúe bendiciendo y protegiendo a nuestros hermanos y hermanas hispanos hoy y siempre.
