A Message from Bishop Burbidge
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ:
I am honored to be the fourth Bishop of the Diocese of Arlington. As I have visited parishes and communities across the Diocese, it has been humbling to witness the deep faith and spirit of charity among the people I have encountered. So many good works are being accomplished in the name of our
Lord, and I am filled with joyful anticipation as I begin my ministry as your new bishop.
Further, I recognize the Bishop’s Lenten Appeal (BLA) is the primary channel by which our Diocese reaches out through various programs and ministries to help people who are in spiritual, emotional or physical need. The theme for the 2017 BLA, “Offering hands to serve and hearts to love,” is a reminder
and an opportunity to put our faith into action. Caring for the poor and vulnerable, teaching our children the rich faith traditions of our Church, sharing the joy of the Gospel with others and supporting men who will one day be our priests are all components that, with the grace of God, help us to advance the
mission of Jesus Christ in our Diocese.
I respectfully ask for your support of the 2017 Bishop’s Lenten Appeal. Your gift represents a grateful acknowledgement of the many blessings that God has bestowed upon you: a gift, based on love from your heart.
Please be assured of my prayers for you and your family. May Our Lord Jesus bless you and keep you in His care.
Sincerely in Christ,
Most Reverend Michael F. Burbidge
Bishop of Arlington
