Indian Catholic Communities

There are three active Catholic Indian communities within our Diocese, Tamil Speaking, a Roman Rite and a Syro-Malabar Rite.

The Syro-Malabar Rite has an Indian Catholic Mass on a weekly basis at 4:30 p.m. at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church in Clifton, Virginia. The Syro-Malabar Community is led by spiritual director, Father Justin Puthussery.

The Tamil Community celebrates Mass at St. Thomas á Beckett, on the second Sunday of every month. They recite the Rosary beginning at 3:30 p.m., Mass follows at 4:00 p.m. and a reception concludes each monthly celebration from 5:00 - 6:00 p.m.

Did You Miss the 15th Annual Asian and Pacific Island Catholics Marian Pilgrimage?

This year's Marian Pilgrimage took place on May 6, 2017 and was attended by thousands of Asian and Pacific Island Catholics. The day included a cultural procession, traditional performances, the Rosary, and Mass celebrated by Cardinal Donald Wuerl.
