Message from Bishop Burbidge on the World Day for Consecrated Life
On the World Day for Consecrated Life, we prayerfully thank and gratefully acknowledge the Men and Women Religious who serve the Church with their selfless gift of poverty, chastity and obedience. The very witness of their lives enrich our Diocese and reflects the Gospel message for others to see. We currently have more than 160 religious priests, brothers and sisters serving in the Catholic Diocese of Arlington, and 58 men and women from our diocese in formation with various orders. I join with Pope Francis who asks the faithful to pray for those in Consecrated Life that “through their witness of life, they may radiate to the world the love of Christ and the grace of the Gospel.”

En la
Jornada Mundial por la Vida Consagrada, elevamos nuestras oraciones para
agradecer y reconocer con gratitud el servicio prestado a la Iglesia por los
hombres y mujeres de la vida religiosa con su desinteresado don de pobreza,
castidad y obediencia. El propio testimonio de su vida enriquece a nuestra
Diócesis y refleja el mensaje del Evangelio para que otros lo vean. En la
actualidad, en la Diócesis Católica de Arlington hay más de 160 sacerdotes,
hermanos y hermanas en la vida religiosa a nuestro servicio y 58 hombres y
mujeres en formación en varias órdenes. Me uno al Papa Francisco al pedir a los
fieles que recen por quienes están en la Vida Consagrada para que “a través de
su testimonio de vida se pueda irradiar al mundo el amor de Cristo y la gracia
del Evangelio”.
