Journey To Emmaus: A High School Youth Ministry Curriculum

This resource was created by the Office of Youth, Campus, and Young Adult Ministries for the Catholic Diocese of Arlington in order to help parishes incorporate catechesis into their comprehensive youth ministry programs in accord with the guidelines of the USCCB.

Journey to Emmaus follows a spiral curriculum, revisiting each doctrinal element over the course of eight semesters. The systematic nature of the curriculum is strengthened by each session's reference to the “Golden Threads.” These are the foundational reality of our faith to which this doctrine is tied.

The original version is a text-based curriculum for use within a weekly youth ministry program and covers all material that should be taught to young people during their high school years. The materials are free to anyone that wants to use them. Leaders can contact the Office of Youth, Campus, & Young Adult Ministries at 703-841-2559 or by emailing youthministry@arlingtondiocese.org with any questions.

We have also created a “video version” for each of these topics with the aim of fostering small group discussions in a variety of youth ministry settings. The video version is free to anyone that wants to use it.
