May the heart of Jesus, in the Most Blessed Sacram May the heart of Jesus, in the Most Blessed Sacrament, be praised, adored, and loved with grateful affection, at every moment, in all the tabernacles of the world, even to the end of time! Today, Bishop Burbidge celebrated a Mass of Thanksgiving at St. William of York in Stafford as a part of the National Eucharistic Pilgrimage and the parish’s 70th anniversary celebration. Following Mass, Bishop led a solemn Eucharistic procession around the parish and school campus followed by hundreds of faithful in attendance. Bishop Burbidge’s encouragement in his homily are for all: “Today, entrust your cares, burdens, and crosses to the Lord in the firm belief that in the Blessed Sacrament Jesus sustains, nourishes, and carries us here on earth so that we may reach the destination for which we all long: life with him in Heaven.”

“Let us pray that our nation, our parishes, and ou “Let us pray that our nation, our parishes, and our families will become places where Eucharistic devotion flourishes, where Christ is deeply loved, and where vocations are born.” — Fr. Edward Hathaway, Basilica rector Tonight, we welcomed the National Eucharistic Pilgrimage team to our diocese at a Holy Hour at the Basilica of Saint Mary in Old Town Alexandria, VA! As we prayed especially for vocations—and for the seven men soon to be ordained priests in our diocese—Fr. Hathaway reflected on the importance of fostering a deeper faith and love of the Holy Eucharist. He also shared how fitting it was for us to pray for vocations on this evening along the National Eucharistic Pilgrimage. “Pilgrims leave behind the comfort of what is familiar and set out with a purpose,” he said. “In many ways, that is also the story of every vocation. God calls, and His people respond in faith, trusting that He will lead them where they need to go.” May our Eucharistic Lord lead us always, that we might ever grow in holiness. Amen!
