• Support vocations to the priesthood and religious life

“If there is a masterpiece in this world it is the formation of good priests: nothing is greater, nothing more important can be thought of.” St. Vincent DePaul, 1658

The Diocese of Arlington invests a great deal in its seminarians to ensure they become well-formed priests. Their formation, including human, spiritual, intellectual and pastoral, requires a commitment of time, effort and money.

Young men might be in the seminary for six to nine years; they pursue philosophy and theology studies, and participate in pastoral internships, summer assignments, and Spanish-language programs. Unfortunately, only the seminarian's time and effort do not come at a cost to the diocese; the other endeavors add up to just about $300,000 by the time the priest is ordained.

DRice for benefactors2

As a seminarian of Arlington, I received much support from the people of the diocese, both financially and through prayer. I am truly humbled by their generosity and inspired by the love they show for God and for me. In my formation and studies, I could ask for no better motivation than the opportunity to serve as their priest one day.
