Nine new priests!
On June 4, 2023 Bishop Burbidge ordained Fathers Jonathan Bennett, Andrew Clark, Timothy Courtney, Zinjin Iglesia, Michael Nugent, Luke Poczatek, Charles Wilton and David Witherow to the Priesthood at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Gainesville. Transitional Diaconate Ordination: Saturday, April 15, 11 a.m.
Bishop Burbidge ordained Deacons James R. Joseph and Sean-Michael V. Nypaver to the Transitional Diaconate at Saint Mary of Sorrows Church in Fairfax.
In his homily, Bishop Burbidge compared the soon-to-be-deacons to the apostles who were sent out in pairs in Christ's name. “Soon, with the imposition of hands and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit and the prayer of ordination, these two men, James and Sean, will be ordained our newest deacons, configured forever to the very person of Jesus Christ and sent forth in his holy name,” he said. “It is my hope and prayer that you will proclaim boldly, serve humbly, and travel lightly.” - From the Arlington Catholic Herald story
