What did you do prior to entering seminary?

I studied biology at the University of Notre Dame, and after graduating in May 2016, I was commissioned as a Chaplain Candidate in the Navy.

What influenced your decision to apply for seminary entrance?

I decided to apply to seminary after my junior year in college. During that year I studied abroad in London and had the opportunity to travel to many holy places in Europe, namely Rome, Assisi, and Fatima. My experiences in these holy places clarified and strengthened my desire to serve the Lord as His priest. In the spring I spoke with the Archdiocese for the Military Services and learned about the great need for Catholic Chaplains. After spending time with the priests and seminarians of Arlington, I was overjoyed to apply to be an Arlington Seminarian co-Sponsored by the AMS.

Why do you want to be a priest?

Each person's vocation is the way of life that will allow him or her to love most. For me I believe this is the life of a priest. To celebrate the Sacraments, to live a life of prayer, to be a spiritual father-I believe this is how I am called to love.

What are your favorite pastimes?

I love to rock climb, play soccer, hike, read, play cornhole and grill.

What is your favorite quote?

“Fear not, little flock, for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.” Lk 12:32

Who is your favorite Saint and why?

My favorite saint is St. Louis Marie de Montfort because of his passionate love for Jesus, ardent devotion to Our Lady, and zeal for the salvation of souls.

What advice would you give to a young man thinking about the seminary?

Pray. Spend time getting to now Jesus intimately and revealing to him all that is in your heart. Ask the Blessed Mother to help you become His closest friend. When he asks something of you, do not be afraid to do it immediately!
