Sterling Theology on Tap

We are excited to announce that the Office of Youth, Campus, and Young Adult Ministries is partnering with nearby parishes to start up Theology on Tap in Sterling!

Speaker: Doug Johnson
Topic: "Love of God and Love of Country: A View from the Trenches"

Doug Johnson has dedicated his life to service as a soldier, husband, father, grandfather and Youth Minister. It was the height of the Vietnam War and Doug volunteered right after high school graduation and was inducted into the U.S. Army in August of 1968. In 1969, he was seriously wounded by a mortar and spent the next several months recuperating in Vietnam, Japan and the United States before being honorably discharged. Doug's experiences as a soldier instilled a strong desire in him to serve youth and help them understand the experience of war, choose wisely and grow to be spiritually and personally strong. This passion led him to a wonderful 37 years working with high school youth beginning in 1981 as a volunteer for 24 years with the St. John Neumann High School Youth Ministry followed by 13 years on the SJN staff as the High School Director of Youth Ministry from 2005 until his retirement this July. Doug and his wife of 48 years, Joanne, have been blessed with 3 children and 10 grandchildren.
