FIAT Summer Camp

FIAT Camp 2022 is currently full. If you would like to be added to the wait list, please email vocations@arlingtondiocese.org with the name, birthdate and grade level of the camper.

Grow in faith and friendship. Build virtue. Have some fun!

FIAT Summer Camp is designed for high school girls who are ready for the next step in their spiritual lives. It's five days and four nights with religious sisters and other young women committed to the path of holiness (but also not afraid of some good, clean fun!). Camp is held at Mount St. Mary's Seminary in Emmitsburg, Maryland.

Mornings focus on the spiritual, including Mass and talks, and afternoons are all about sports, crafts and games; evening events are a mix. One day there's a pilgrimage to the Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes.

This year's theme centers on Jesus' words at the Last Supper, “Do this in memory of me.” Jesus teaches us many things by his words and example, and then he leaves us the gift of himself in the Eucharist as strength for the journey. What does this gift of Jesus mean to me? How can I respond?

Come to FIAT Camp and find out!

See the photos and video from the 2021 camp, and read the Catholic Herald article about it.

Dates: July 17-21, 2022. Camp opens at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, pick-up is 1:00 p.m. Thursday. There is 4:00 p.m. Mass with Bishop Burbidge and a picnic for families on opening Sunday.

FIAT Camp is for girls currently in high school (grades 9-12 for the 2021-22 academic year), who have not yet turned 19.

Due to demand, camp registration is done by lottery. The lottery will be open for the month of March. Only one entry needed per camper and you can enter anytime during March.

Registration and payment are currently due by May 23 for those who received a spot in the camp.

Cost is $250 per camper, which include private room and all meals for the 4.5 days. Financial aid and payment plans are available* (see below for more payment information).

Camp is held at Mount St. Mary's University and Seminary. All campers will have their own room and share a hall bath. Meals are in the university cafeteria.

Participants are required to abide by Mount St. Mary's University and Seminary COVID protocols for summer activities, which have not been determined for 2022.

Here are some comments from previous campers:

  • “Something that was really special to me this week was learning to be at peace and know that God's plan is always the best and He will reveal it to me through a deepened relationship with Him.”
  • “It has been so helpful in my discernment and every girl needs that. It's been such a fun retreat as well, perfectly balanced, and an experience I will never forget.”
  • “By coming here, I feel my relationship with God has grown so much. This has made me feel like discerning my vocation is more of a life than a job, and God's choice not mine.”
  • “It is so hard to describe the graces and gifts that come from this camp. I really believe you have to experience it to fully understand it.”
  • “It really just lets you slow down and think about why you're really here on earth, and what path you'll take to Christ.”

PAYMENT PLAN OPTIONS:    Camp can be paid for in three installments ($85, $85 and $80). All payments must be received by June 30.
